WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the following recall in voluntary cooperation with the firm below. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of product: "Toy Tunes" Electronic Musical Toys

Units: About 147,600

Manufacturer/Retailer: Dollar Tree Stores Inc., of Chesapeake, Va.

Hazard: The ball on the end of the drumstick sold with these toys can break off during use, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recall includes two styles of battery-operated, electronic musical toys. The multi-colored toys come in the shape of a drum and a xylophone, and are sold with a drumstick for playing the musical toy. The recalled toys have a label affixed to the top of the package that reads "LIGHT & SOUND MUSICAL TOY" and "TOY TUNES." A second label affixed to the bottom right of the package reads "TRY ME!" The label affixed on the back of the package contains, "DOLLAR TREE DIST., CHESAPEAKE, VA 23320" and "MADE IN CHINA."

Sold at: Dollar Tree, Only $1, and Dollar Bills stores nationwide from March 2004 through January 2005 for $1.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumer should take these toys away from young children immediately, and return the recalled toys to the store where purchased for a refund.
