WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Advantage Publishers Group, of San Diego, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 5,300 "Amazing Baby™ Listen and Play" activity books. The hub of the pink dial embedded in the inside back cover can come off during use in some of these books, posing a choking hazard to young children.

The "Amazing Baby™ Listen and Play" book has a multi-colored cover with a baby face on the front and is an interactive book designed to allow children ages 12 to 24 months to learn about different sounds, images, and materials. The cover also shows a yellow bird that makes a squeak noise when pressed, and a clear plastic container of multicolored beads. Mounted onto the inside back cover is a small rotating plastic wheel with finger indentations, which makes a "clacking" sound when turned.
Retail stores, national book chains, wholesalers and distributors, and membership warehouse clubs nationwide sold the activity books from May through October 2003 for $16.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risk of injury associated with the use of thousands of types of consumer products. Deaths, injuries, and property damage from consumer product-related incidents cost the nation more than $1 trillion annually. Since the CPSC was established more than 50 years ago, it has worked to ensure the safety of consumer products, which has contributed to a decline in injuries associated with these products.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
