Description:

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Playskool Baby, Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc., has informed the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) that it is voluntarily recalling its Sesame Street Big Bird pacifier, #3680/3682, and its Happy Face Animal mouse and elephant pacifiers, #3185/3188.

Playskool Baby has determined that the pacifiers may separate, creating small parts that could present a choking hazard. Approximately 844,000 of these pacifiers have been sold nationwide since 1989.

Although the pacifiers have passed all Federal test requirements, Playskool Baby has received 41 complaints in 1991 from consumers and, in the interest of children's safety, has decided to recall the pacifiers. The firm has received no reports of serious injury.

Consumers should return Sesame Street Big Bird pacifiers and Happy Face Animal mouse and elephant pacifiers to Playskool Baby, Inc., Consumer Service Department, 200 Narragansett Park Drive, P.O. Box 200, Pawtucket, RI 02862-2000 for a free alternate replacement pacifier. Consumers may also return the pacifiers to the retailer for a refund.
