FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 12, 2002

Alert #03-507

PRODUCT: Swing Seats - Miracle Recreation Equipment Company, of Monett, Mo., is voluntarily recalling about 22,000 Slash Proof Swing Seats. The recalled swing seats are made of blue polymer material with "Miracle M" embossed on the topside of the seat and an "M" on the underside above the date code. Miracle Recreation Equipment Company sold the swing seats nationwide from June 2001 to September 2002 for use on public playground equipment.

PROBLEM: Metal inserts inside the swing seats can wear through and cause lacerations to children.

INCIDENTS/INJURIES: Two children have been injured and received stitches to lacerations on an arm and a leg from exposed metal on edges of swing seats.

WHAT TO DO: Owners should immediately stop children from using these swing seats and contact Miracle Recreation Co. at (800) 523-4202 Ext. 635 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday for free replacement seats and hardware. If there are already exposed metal inserts on the edges of your seats, immediately take down the seats and chains. Do not leave chains on equipment as children could seriously injure themselves or others with free-hanging chains. Consumers or equipment owners can also visit the firm's web site at www.miracle-recreation.com to request replacement seats and find additional information about recalled seats. Purchasers were previously sent direct mail notification about this recall.
