PRODUCT: Riding Mowers - The Grasshopper Co. of Moundridge, Kan., is voluntarily recalling 174 Mid-Mount Series 225/52 zero turn radius riding mowers. The recall involves Mid-Mount Series 225/52 riding mowers with serial numbers 5110281 through 5210414. Serial numbers are located on the right fender under the seat. Specialty lawn and garden shops sold these riding mowers nationwide from August 2000 through September 2001 for about $8,000.
PROBLEM: The fuel tank could leak gasoline, posing a fire hazard and risk of burn injuries to consumers.
INCIDENTS/INJURIES: Grasshopper has received 11 reports of leaking fuel tanks on these lawnmowers. No injuries have been reported.
WHAT TO DO: Consumers should stop using the mowers immediately and contact Grasshopper at (800) 337-0289 between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CT Monday thru Friday to arrange for installation of a replacement fuel tank, at no charge.
