Description:

PRODUCT: Dayton Motors - The Emerson Motor Co., of St. Louis, Mo., is recalling about 3,200 electric motors. The motors were sold under the Dayton brand name. The motors are used in many applications including carbonation machines and commercial fans. The model numbers included in the recall are 6K361B, 6K804B, and 5K887D&E. The manufacturing numbers included in the recall are MK99C, ML99C, MM99C, MA00C, MB00C, MC00C, MD00C, ME00C, MF00C and MG00C. The model and manufacturing numbers are located on the motor nameplate attached to the side of the motor. These motors were sold directly through motor distributors or repair shops from October 1999 through August 2000 for about $95. 

PROBLEM: If the motor is not properly grounded as instructed, the motor could become energized and cause a shock or electrocution hazard resulting in injury or death. 

INCIDENTS/INJURIES: None reported. 

WHAT TO DO: Consumers with the recalled motor should unplug it and remove it from service and contact Dayton Motor Hotline for repair information. The Dayton Motor Hotline can be reached at (888) 286-5220 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
