The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to stop using Eudaimonia-branded pool drain covers immediately. The drain covers do not bear the required product markings in violation of the mandatory safety standard under the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGBA), posing risk of serious injury or death from entrapment and drowning hazards. The drain covers also fail to meet safety requirements because they are missing statements regarding the service life of the covers and installation and maintenance instructions.
CPSC urges consumers to remove, replace and dispose of the drain covers immediately and to stop using pools with the drain covers until the covers have been replaced. Do not sell or give away these hazardous drain covers. Ensure all pools and spas have VGBA-compliant drain covers and teach children to stay away from drains.
CPSC issued a Notice of Violation to the seller, DaPuXianFuJiaJianSheGongChengYouXianGongSi, doing business as FuJia1217, of China. FuJia1217 has not agreed to recall these swimming pool drain covers or offer a remedy to consumers.
The Eudaimonia-branded white pool drain covers, model number 642-2150V, have holes and a grated opening around the side. The round main drain covers measure about 7.48 inches in diameter and were sold with two screws and in packs of two drain covers. The brand and model number can be found on the product’s order receipt.
