WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of product: All-Clad 4-Square Belgian Waffle Makers
Units: About 30,000
Distributor: All-Clad Metalcrafters LLC, of Canonsburg, Pa.
Hazard: Wiring inside the waffle maker can be damaged and contact the waffle maker's metal body, posing a shock or fire hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: All-Clad has received 20 reports of waffle makers emitting sparks. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The recalled All-Clad 4-Square Belgian Waffle Maker is electric with a stainless steel exterior. The recall involves units with a model/ref number of #WD700462 and 4-digit manufacture date codes ending in "08". The model/ref number and manufacture date code are located on a white label on the bottom of the waffle maker.
Sold by: Exclusively through Williams-Sonoma stores, catalog and Web site nationwide from March 2008 through January 2009 for about $200.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should unplug the waffle maker immediately and contact All-Clad for instructions on obtaining a free replacement.
