Furthermore, the cables’ short length encourages the use of generators close to homes or enclosed spaces, posing a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
CPSC urges consumers to stop using these defective male-to-male extension cords immediately, safely unplugging them by not touching the live end of the cord and dispose of them.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to stop using Wz-Ei male-to-male extension cords immediately due to electrocution, fire and carbon monoxide poisoning hazards. The male-to-male extension cords are hazardous because their exposed prongs can become energized when one end is plugged into a generator or other power source, posing a risk of serious injury and death from electrocution. In addition, using the cables to supply power from a generator to a residential electrical system (“backfeeding”) poses a risk of electrocution and fire. Furthermore, the cables’ short length encourages the use of generators close to homes or enclosed spaces, posing a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Wz-Ei Co. Ltd., of China, sold this product and has been unresponsive to CPSC requests for a recall or information about this product.
About five extension cords were sold on Walmart.com by WITYUKE from August 2025 through November 2025 for about $15. The yellow extension cords have two male ends with a three-prong black plug and measure about 18 inches long. The importer or the seller’s name can be found on the product’s purchase receipt.
These products were manufactured in China.
CPSC urges consumers to stop using these defective male-to-male extension cords immediately, safely unplugging them by not touching the live end of the cord and dispose of them.

The power strips do not contain supplementary overcurrent protection, which creates a risk of fire if the power strips are overloaded. The resulting fire can cause serious injury or death from smoke inhalation and burns.

The power strips have an ungrounded metal enclosure that poses an electrocution hazard if energized, resulting in serious injury or death.
The lithium-ion batteries installed in the lanterns can overheat, posing a burn hazard to consumers.
The chargers can explode while in use, posing a fire and burn hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risk of injury associated with the use of thousands of types of consumer products. Deaths, injuries, and property damage from consumer product-related incidents cost the nation more than $1 trillion annually. Since the CPSC was established more than 50 years ago, it has worked to ensure the safety of consumer products, which has contributed to a decline in injuries associated with these products.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
