The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to stop using LED Waterproof Candle Lights immediately. The candle lights violate the mandatory standard for consumer products containing button cell or coin batteries because they contain lithium coin batteries that can be accessed easily by children, posing an ingestion hazard. Additionally, the candle lights do not have the warnings as required by Reese’s Law. When button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns and death.
CPSC urges consumers to stop using the LED Waterproof Candle Lights immediately and dispose of them. Do not sell or give away these hazardous Candle Lights.
Button cell and coin batteries are hazardous. The battery in the LED Candle Lights should be disposed of or recycled following local hazardous waste procedures.
CPSC issued a Notice of Violation to the retailer, Chengdu Mincheng Xinhan Lighting Business Department, doing business as Nii Marketplace, of China. Nii Marketplace has not agreed to recall the LED Waterproof Candle Lights or offer a remedy to consumers.
The warning includes LED Waterproof Candle Lights. The LED lights are packaged in a clear plastic bag with white labeling and include a single folded instruction sheet. The lights consist of clear, unmarked units that illuminate in single color formats—including pink, white, green, yellow, red, warm white, and purple—as well as models capable of transitioning through multiple colors. The lights were packaged in 2, 6 and 9-pack sets.
