WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using certain DHGate Hair Dryers. The hair dryers, which lack an integrated immersion protection device, can cause death or serious injury due to electrocution and shock hazards. The hair dryers are in violation of the federal regulations for hair dryers and present a substantial product hazard.
The hair dryers were sold online at DHGate.com for between $10 and $100.
This warning includes the following seven hair dryer models:
- The Designer Dryers Hair Anion Salon MuteHairdryer is a gunmetal color with either a gray, blue, white, rose, purple, or macaroon accent color and comes in a set with 5 various attachments and a storage box.
- The HD17 Salon Hair Care Hairdryer is blue, teal, or pink and has a fixed tube-shaped handle with a 90-degree angle.
- The Hair Salon Anion MuteHairdryer Hair Care Electric Hair Dryer comes in various colors and comes with 5 attachments.
- The Electric Hair Dryers Anion MuteHairdryer Care Electric Hair Drier Quick-dry Safety Egative Lonic Fashion Professional Travel Salon Blow Dryer come in various colors and comes with 5 attachments.
- The Negative Ionic Professional Salon Blow Powerful Travel Hair Dryer comes in various colors and comes with 5 attachments.
- The Anion Mute Designer dryer HD08 Safety Powerful Electric Egative Ionic Hair Dryer comes in various colors and comes with 4 attachments.
- The Fashion Dryers Hair Salon Anion MuteHairdryer Designer Hair Care Electric Hair Dryer comes in various colors and comes with 5 attachments.
CPSC notified DHGate, of China, that the hair dryers do not meet U.S. safety requirements, but the firm has not responded to requests for a recall.
