The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC.
Name of Product: Sycamore Pro Gas Generators
Units: About 1,500
Distributor: Sycamore SCS, of Louisville, K.Y.
Importer: Creative Resources, of Louisville, K.Y.
Hazard: A plastic sediment cup attached to the bottom of the fuel valve can crack during shipping and handling and cause fuel leakage or spillage, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: Sycamore SCS has received nine reports of generators leaking. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
Description: This recall involves the following models of the Sycamore Pro gas generators: APEX 3, APEX 7, APEX 6, EGS 3.2, EGS 4.8, and EGS 7. "Sycamore Professional" and the model name can be found on the front of the generator. All models are black and green and have side control panels. The APEX 3, 6, and 7 are portable generators and have two wheels. The EGS 3.2, 4.8, and 7.2 do not have wheels.
Sold at: Various dealers and stores in Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oregon, Texas, and Washington between May 2008 and October 2008 for between $940 and $2,340.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled generators immediately and contact Sycamore SCS for a free replacement sediment cup. All known consumers have been notified.
