WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Redcat Racing FM Remote Controlled Vehicles
Units: About 1,400
Distributor: Redcat Racing Co., of Phoenix, Ariz.
Hazard: The remote control unit can lose its signal, causing the toy vehicle to lose control, posing a risk of injury to the user or bystanders.
Incidents/Injuries: Redcat Racing has received about 15 reports of remote control malfunctions. There have been no injuries reported.
Description: The recalled remote controls were included in the remote cars as shown below. These cars were sold in a variety of colors. The model name and numbers are located on the body of the vehicle or on the retail packaging:

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Redcat Racing for a replacement remote control.

The children’s costumes contain a prohibited phthalate, which violates the federal phthalates ban. Phthalates are toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
The recalled toys violate the mandatory standard for toys because the screw used to secure the battery compartment that contains a button cell battery does not remain attached as required. When button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns, and death.
The building toy sets violate the mandatory safety standard because the battery compartment within the LED light piece contains button cell batteries that can be easily accessed by children. When button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns and death.
The recalled magnetic building cubes contain magnets that can become loose if the seams separate, posing an ingestion hazard to children. When high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can attract each other, or other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive system. This can result in perforations, twisting, and/or blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning and death.
The water balloon pump can generate excessive pressure during use, causing the product to rupture, posing a risk of physical injury to the user or bystanders.
The recalled magnet spinner sets violate the mandatory standard for toys because the sets contain loose magnets, posing an ingestion hazard to children. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risk of injury associated with the use of thousands of types of consumer products. Deaths, injuries, and property damage from consumer product-related incidents cost the nation more than $1 trillion annually. Since the CPSC was established more than 50 years ago, it has worked to ensure the safety of consumer products, which has contributed to a decline in injuries associated with these products.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
