The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Children's Rain Ponchos

Units: About 48

Importer: Daiso LLC, of Burlingame, Calif

Hazard: The garments have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings in upper garments.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recalled plastic rain ponchos were sold in yellow or blue and have a drawstring in the hood. Japanese lettering is printed on the packaging.

Sold by: Daiso retail stores located in California and Washington states from February 2007 through November 2007 for $1.50.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the rain ponchos to eliminate the hazard.
