Description:

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Payless ShoeSource Inc., of Topeka, KS, is voluntarily recalling about 90,000 Girls' Boots. The guitar-shaped zipper pulls on each boot can interlock while a child is walking, causing the child to trip and fall.

Hazard: The guitar-shaped zipper pulls on each boot can interlock while a child is walking, causing the child to trip and fall.

Incidents/Injuries: Payless has received five reports of the zipper pulls interlocking, including one report of a four-year-old girl who fell and skinned her knees.

Description: This recall involves black jeweled girls' boots. The boots have a silhouette of a guitar on the outer leg and a guitar-shaped zipper pull on the inner leg. "Hannah Montana" is engraved on the boot outsole and a photo of the singer and show's character is printed on the box. The boots were sold in girls' sizes 10 ½ to 4 ½. No other styles or models are involved in this recall.

Sold at: Payless ShoeSource stores nationwide and Payless.com from August 2007 through September 2007 for about $27.

Remedy: Consumers should take these boots away from children immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund or exchange.
