WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the following recall in voluntary cooperation with the firm below. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Products: Frog, Fish or Duck Lawn Sprinkler
Units: About 10,000
Importer: Syratech Corporation, of East Boston, Mass.
Hazard: The plastic body of the lawn sprinkler can crack when placed under intense water pressure and pieces of it can break off and be projected 5 to 10 feet in the air. This could pose a risk of injury to consumers and bystanders.
Incidents/Injuries: Syratech has received two reports of the lawn sprinkler cracking and projecting pieces of the decorative covering in the air. The company has no reports of injuries.
Description: The recalled products are Elements® lawn sprinklers with a plastic decorative body mounted on wheels in the shape of a green frog, blue fish or yellow duck sold under model numbers:
Model No. 4005059 (Duck)
Model No. 4005060 (Frog)
Model No. 4005061 (Fish)
The model numbers are located on the side of the packaging.
Sold at: Discount retailers nationwide from March 2006 through August 2006 for between $15 and $30.
Manufactured In: China
Remedy: Consumers should stop using these sprinklers immediately and return them to Syratech Corp. for a full refund.
