Description:

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Tap Enterprises, Inc., dba Cummins Industrial Tools, of Spring Hill, Kansas, is voluntarily recalling about 11,300 Mini 2-Galllon Pancake Air Compressors. An undersized power cord can overheat and pose a fire hazard. In addition, improper assembly of the power cord strain relief component and improper routing of internal conductors can cause a shock hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 40 reports of compressors failing to work, including two incidents of smoke and fire. One incident resulted in $30,000 worth of property damage to a stand-alone garage. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The mini-pancake air compressors were sold with yellow, blue, gray or silver-painted tanks. Item #2112 and "CUMMINS INDUSTRIAL TOOLS, AIR COMPRESSOR (OILESS), 110V.60Hz, 2 Gallon, Made in China" can be found on the motor housing.

Sold Through: Mobile merchant sales, Web sites, and newspaper advertisements nationwide from June 2004 through March 2006 for about $50.
