WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Martha Stewart Everyday "sunny meadow" four-piece sanded votive candle sets
Units: 16,000 sets
Distributor/Retailer: Kmart Corp., of Troy, Mich.
Manufacturer: Global Gift Industries, of San Diego, Calif.
Hazard: These candles can have a high flame, posing a risk of burn injuries to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: Kmart has received one report of a high flame with these candles. No injuries were reported.
Description: These scented, flowerpot-shaped candles are about 2.5-inches high and have a sand coating. They were sold in two different four-piece sets. One set containing three candles of different shades of green and one ivory candle with code number KMS8428 and UPC number 7 50197 88428 9. The other set contains a blue, white, orange and cream colored candle with code number KMS8427 and UPC number 7 50197 88427 2. The code numbers and UPC can be found in the white box on the bottom of the packaging. Other writing on the packaging includes, "MARTH STEWART everyday" and "sunny meadow."
Sold at: Kmart stores nationwide from April 2004 through January 2005 for about $6.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these candles immediately and contact Global Gift Industries to request a free replacement product, or return them to any Kmart store for a full refund.
