Description:

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Shivvers Manufacturing of Corydon, Iowa is voluntarily recalling 125 grass collection units. The ends of the blades on these Country Clipper riding mowers can break off and become projectiles, leaving the mower deck at a high rate of speed. The recalled blades can break because "slots" in the blade cause metal fatigue.

Name of Product: Country Clipper Jazee and Jazee One Grass Collection System Blower Blades

Manufacturer: Shivvers Manufacturing, of Corydon, Iowa

Hazard: The ends of the blades on these Country Clipper riding mowers can break off and become projectiles, leaving the mower deck at a high rate of speed. The recalled blades can break because "slots" in the blade cause metal fatigue.

Incidents/Injuries: Shivvers has received six reports of ends breaking off blades of the riding mowers. There have been no reports of injuries or property damage.

Description: The Country Clipper riding mowers are red with black wheels and controls. The recalled blades have these model numbers: 629-306P, 629-307P, and 629-308P. The blades are black with two slots cut near the middle of the blade. The replacement blades do not have slots.

Sold through: The recalled blades were sold with grass collection units for Country Clipper Jazee Lawn Mowers nationwide from September 2003 through May 14, 2004, for between $14 and $17 per blade.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the Country Clipper Jazee Lawn Mowers with Grass Collection Systems with the recalled blades immediately. Call the Country Clipper dealer to make an appointment for free replacement of the recalled blades.
