In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Answer Products, Inc., Valencia, CA is voluntarily recalling about 8,032 Manitou bicycle suspension forks. The top of the Manitou bicycle suspension fork, when fully compressed, may contact the front tire, resulting in a loss of control of the bicycle and presenting a fall hazard to a bicyclist.

Hazard: The top of the Manitou bicycle suspension fork, when fully compressed, may contact the front tire, resulting in a loss of control of the bicycle and presenting a fall hazard to a bicyclist.
Incidents/Injuries: One report of a Manitou Stance allowing the tire to rub against the top of the fork. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The recall involves 2005 Manitou Nixon, Stance, and Sherman bicycle suspension forks installed on various high-end mountain bicycles. The Manitou bicycle suspension forks have the model names printed on the sides of the lower leg portions of the fork. Specific models are listed in the table below.

Remedy: Consumers should check the back of the lower leg portion of the fork for a decal stating, "Tire Clearance Upgrade Installed". If absent, consumers should stop using the bicycle immediately and contact Answer to arrange for a free travel upgrade kit to be installed at no cost. Consumers should discard the old Owners' Manual and contact Answer to send a free Owners' Manual.
