Washington D,C - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Oscar Mayer Foods Corp., of Madison, Wis., is recalling the decals on about 16,000 Oscar Mayer Wienermobile pedal cars. These decals contain high levels of lead. High levels of lead presents a poisoning hazard to young children if ingested.
Oscar Mayer is not aware of any illnesses or injuries involving this product. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of illness or injury.
These hot dog-shaped pedal cars are orange and yellow, and measure about 46 inches in length. They are intended for children 3 to 7 years of age. Decals on these cars are located on the front, back, sides and interior panels of the pedal cars.
Grocery stores in the U.S. and Canada distributed many of these pedal cars through special promotions and also sold a small number by mail order from June 1995 through May 1998. The cars were not available for purchase in retail stores.
Consumers should immediately stop children from playing with these pedal cars. Consumers should call (800) 323-0768 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. CDT Monday through Friday for instructions on how to receive new decals to replace the old decals.
