The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to stop using Bonnlo Bunk Beds immediately because the top bunk slats can fail causing the frame and top bunk to collapse, posing a risk of serious injury or death from asphyxiation and injury hazards.
CPSC urges consumers to immediately remove, replace and dispose of the bunk beds. Do not sell or give away these hazardous products.
The manufacturer, Shenzhenshi Shangyunjiajuyongpin Limited, doing business as Bonnlo, of China has been unresponsive to CPSC’s request to recall these bunk beds.
This warning involves Bonnlo-branded twin-over-twin bunk beds. They have a black, gray or white metal frame with ladder that measures about 78 inches wide, 41.5 inches deep and 65 inches high.
Report any incidents involving injury or product defect to CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov.
CPSC is aware of nine reports of bunk bed slat failures, including three in which the top bunk collapsed onto the lower bunk. No injuries have been reported.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risk of injury associated with the use of thousands of types of consumer products. Deaths, injuries, and property damage from consumer product-related incidents cost the nation more than $1 trillion annually. Since the CPSC was established more than 50 years ago, it has worked to ensure the safety of consumer products, which has contributed to a decline in injuries associated with these products.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
