Product Safety Warning Details
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using four models of OasisSpace adult portable bed rails because users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the rail and mattress, creating an asphyxiation hazard that poses a risk of serious injury or death. In October 2023 in Ohio, an 81-year-old woman died at her home after becoming entrapped between an OasisSpace bed rail and the mattress.
The bed rails were distributed and sold by Gold Kernal LLC, doing business as online seller OasisSpace, of Wilmington, Delaware. CPSC has issued a Notice of Violation to Gold Kernal regarding bed rail models manufactured after August 21, 2023, because they fail to meet the safety requirements of the Safety Standard for Adult Portable Bed Rails.
Gold Kernal has not agreed to recall the bed rails or offer a remedy to consumers.

About 86,100 bed rails were sold online on OasisSpace.com, Amazon.com and Walmart.com from July 2019 through February 2025 for between $30 and $108. The products have also been found for sale by third-party sellers and on other websites such as eBay.com.
These products were manufactured in China.
CPSC urges consumers to stop using the bed rails immediately, regardless of their date of manufacture, and dispose of them. Do not sell or give away these hazardous bed rails.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risk of injury associated with the use of thousands of types of consumer products. Deaths, injuries, and property damage from consumer product-related incidents cost the nation more than $1 trillion annually. Since the CPSC was established more than 50 years ago, it has worked to ensure the safety of consumer products, which has contributed to a decline in injuries associated with these products.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
