CPSC, Yamaha Corporation of America Announces Recall of Synthesizers

Recall Details

The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: S90 ES Synthesizer

Units: About 1,100

Distributor: Yamaha Corporation of America, of Buena Park, Calif.

Hazard: Unit could emit loud "white noise" when turned off and turned on again under high temperature conditions, which could possibly damage a consumer's hearing.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The S90 ES Synthesizer is black with a black and white keyboard. "S90 ES" and "Yamaha" are written on the front of the synthesizer.

Sold at: Musical instrument retailers and dealers from August 2005 through October 2005 for a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of $2,599.

Manufactured in: Japan

Remedy: Yamaha will contact each customer to arrange for a repair or replacement at no cost to the customer.
