Description:

This recall involves the 1.75 gallon glass fish bowl that is shaped like a brandy snifter. These fish bowls were sold under the Grreat Choice or Top Fin brand names with SKU number 5140161 and UPC code 737257187092. The SKU and UPC codes are printed on a white sticker on the bottom of the fish bowl.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the fish bowl and return the fish bowl to any PetSmart store for a full refund. Use caution when handling the fish bowl for return due to the hazard. 

Incidents/Injuries:

PetSmart has received 20 new reports of the glass fish bowl breaking during normal use, including 14 additional reports of cuts to fingers and hands. Seven cuts required stitches and three others required surgery for lacerated tendons.

PetSmart stores nationwide from March 2010 through September 2013 for about $20.

Aquarium Heaters Recalled by United Pet Group Due to Fire and Laceration Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, United Pet Group, of Cincinnati, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 1.2 million Marineland Stealth and Stealth Pro aquarium heaters. A wiring problem can cause the aquarium heaters to overheat or break during normal use, damaging the aquarium and posing fire and laceration hazards to consumers. Overheating can cause the heater to shatter or the aquarium glass to break.

"AquaPod" 12-Gallon Aquariums Recalled Due to Shock Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Current USA Inc., of Vista, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 1,000 AquaPod 12-Gallon Aquariums. These aquariums have three power cords, two for the aquarium lamps and one for the air pump. When only one of the two lamp cords is plugged in, the unplugged lamp cord can become energized, posing an electrical shock hazard to consumers.
