Today, I am issuing a public challenge to use your creativity, passion and drive to help solve pressing consumer product-related safety problems that cause life-altering injuries and take lives. This challenge is not a contest. The items in the Chairman’s Challenge are real safety problems that need real solutions. That’s where you come in!

I want to promote innovation in injury prevention and find solutions to safety problems with creative thinking. If you come up with a solution, I promise to applaud your efforts and ensure that credit goes where credit is due. Your ideas belong to you. Please share your solutions with me so that I may publicly recognize your ingenuity and problem solving.

This is a living document that will be periodically updated as new consumer product safety challenges arise. The topics in this document are just a small portion of the hazards faced by consumers. You may know about other dangers that need attention. Some topics might prompt you to reframe a challenge or propose your own problem. There are no rules for innovation. Some of the challenges may seem outlandish but the point is to trigger creative thinking.
