Statement of Acting Chairman Peter A. Feldman Announcing Matthew Campbell as CPSC General Counsel

Peter A. Feldman, Acting Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), today announced the appointment of Matthew Campbell as the Commission’s General Counsel.  Mr. Campbell most recently served in the Office of the General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  In that role, he represented the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in numerous administrative law challenges under the Administrative Procedures Act.  Prior to government service, Mr. Campbell was a partner at the law firm Winston & Strawn LLP, where he co-chaired the firm’s product liability and mass tort practice.

“Matt brings more than two decades of experience in complex commercial litigation to CPSC," said Feldman.  “The agency, and the American consumers we are charged to protect, will benefit greatly from Matt’s leadership.  I thank him for his willingness to serve.”

Mr. Campbell holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
