Archive CPSC public service announcement about using safe nursery products.

The design of all nursery products shown in this video are considered dangerous by modern standards. These products have been redesigned to be safer thanks to both mandatory and voluntary safety standards.

There has been a nearly 80% decrease in crib deaths from 1973 to 2018. CPSC’s mandatory safety standard for cribs took effect in 2011.

There has also been a major decline of 88% in baby walker associated injuries. In 1992, these types of injuries resulted in over 25,000 visits to the emergency room, with visits dropping to an estimated 3,100 in 2020. CPSC issued mandatory safety standards in 2010.

The older versions of these products should not be sold or gifted. Recycle old nursery products in accordance with your local recycling laws.
