Decision
The Commission voted unanimously (3-0) to approve publication of the notice in the Federal Register that will inform hospitals and other health care organizations of the Commission’s status as a “public health authority” under the medical privacy requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
