Decision

The Commission voted unanimously (5-0) to approve publication in the Federal Register of the draft final rule, as drafted, to state that seasonal and decorative lighting products that do not contain one or more of three readily observable characteristics (minimum wire size, sufficient strain relief, or overcurrent protection) constitute a substantial product hazard under section 15(j) of the Consumer Product Safety Act, 15 U.S.C. § 2064(j). Commissioner Buerkle submitted the attached statement regarding the matter.
