The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission will hold its inaugural Safety Academy on September 20, 2012 from 08:00 A.M. to approximately 4:00 P.M. Chairman Inez Tenenbaum will deliver the keynote address. She will be followed by Commissioners Robert Adler and Nancy Nord with their statements. The Safety Academy will feature panels that will discuss and provide information on a series of topics of interest to the public: F963 Toy Standards; Testing, Mandatory Testing, and Component Parts Testing; Flammable Fabrics, Drawstrings, and Sleepwear; to be followed by lunch. Mr. Marc Schoem will provide a Compliance Update. In the afternoon, we will have an international panel with representatives from AQSIQ of the People’s Republic of China, Health Canada, and INMETRO from Brazil. The international panel with discuss their regulatory framework and how it applies to the supply chain. Also in the afternoon, additional panels are offered in topics such as the Fast Track Process, the Nuances of 6(b), and Navigating the CPSC Import Process. All attendees must pre- register on the CPSC-website to attend. The event will be webcast. The Safety Academy is free but security will be very tight.
