By Vehicle

From the South, West or East:

  1. Take Interstate 495, the Beltway, to Interstate 270 north.
  2. Exit at 6B, Route 28 West.
  3. After exiting Interstate 270 in cloverleaf onto Route 28, drive to the 3rd light. Turn right onto Research Blvd.
  4. Follow Research Blvd about 1.2 miles. Turn right onto Research Place. Research Place is about 1/4 mile past Gude Drive.
  5. The NPTEC parking lot is the first driveway on the left.

From the North:

  1. Take Interstate 270 South. Get into the local lanes for Exit 8 at Shady Grove Road.
  2. Bear right onto Shady Grove Road west. Turn left at the 2nd traffic light onto Research Blvd.
  3. Proceed south about 1/4 mile past Research Court. Take the 2nd left onto Research Place.
  4. The NPTEC parking lot is the first driveway on the left.

By Public Transportation

  • Because the date and time may impact availability of public transportation, it is a good idea to check theMetro Trip Planner when planning travel.
  • General directions from Downtown Washington, D.C.:
    1. Take the Red Line towards Shady Grove metro station.
    2. Disembark from train at the Rockville metro station.
    3. Take Ride-On Bus 54 to 5 Research Place (there is a bus stop directly in front of the building).

Access/Security Considerations

  • Provide your name and affiliation to the CPSC staff contact prior to your meeting.
  • Bring a valid form of government-issued identification that has your picture.
  • For access to laboratory space, wear closed toe shoes (safety glasses and other PPE will be provided by CPSC as needed depending on the lab areas and situation).
