October 24, 2024

Douglas Dziak, Commissioner of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced the addition of Lee Carosi Dunn as a member of his staff today. Lee joined Commissioner Dziak’s team as Chief Counsel.

Lee has three decades of experience in both government and the private sector. As part of her government experience, Lee spent close to ten years working for U.S. Senator John McCain (AZ) as General Counsel, including his time as Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation (Commerce) and Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services. During her time with the Commerce Committee, Lee assisted Chairman McCain in his oversight of the CPSC and in his work championing consumer issues. Lee’s work included consideration of a host of consumer product safety issues, including child safety seats, crib safety, electric bikes, and the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, a national education and awareness campaign for pool and spa safety.

Prior to her Senate tenure, Lee worked for former Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael K. Powell and at the law firm Dow, Lohnes and Albertson. She also served as a judicial clerk in Alexandria, Virginia for Chief Judge Claude M. Hilton in the Eastern District of Virginia.

Most recently, Lee spent twelve years working for Alphabet Inc. (Google) in various legal, policy, and business roles. Her work focused on advising company leaders through regulatory, legal, and policy challenges, as well as working with customers in supporting artificial intelligence and cloud computing technologies.

“Lee’s significant policy background including experience in all branches of the federal government, combined with her private sector experience, will benefit American consumers, the Commission, and my office. Lee has a reputation for excellence, and I am thrilled that she agreed to re-enter public service to advance the Commission’s safety mission,” Dziak said.

Lee received her J.D. from The Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law, cum laude, and her B.S. in Sociology from Vanderbilt University. She is married with three children.
