Welcome and Happy Fourth of July!

Welcome and Happy Fourth of July!

July 02, 2015

Welcome to my new blog! I am delighted that CPSC has provided the Commissioners the ability to blog and tweet so that we can communicate with people through the wonder of social media. My blog will be a place you can find my thoughts on CPSC related issues, updates on CPSC activity, and education and awareness information. Stay tuned for more information on where to find me on twitter.

As I write this first blog post, summer is well underway and we are anticipating Fourth of July weekend. Soon, many of us will be enjoying barbeques, family, fireworks, and parades.

For our nation, however, the Fourth of July means much more. On July 4, 1776, the original thirteen colonies separated from England with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Our Founding Fathers knew that the future ahead would be full of challenges and risks to themselves and their families, but the importance of the country was greater than any one person.

In 1776, the United States of America was born. This was the defining moment for the country, and that is why Independence Day is of such great importance for the American people.

As we celebrate this July Fourth with our families and friends, let us be mindful of the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have been willing to fight and die to preserve the greatness of America.

Happy birthday, America! My best wishes to all of you for a happy, safe Fourth of July!
