WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the following recall in voluntary cooperation with the firm below. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of product: Toy Necklaces

Units: 1.4 million

Manufacturer: L.M. Becker & Co. Inc., of Kimberly, Wis.

Hazard: The necklace's pendant contains high levels of lead, posing a risk of poisoning to young children.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm received one report of a child who swallowed the necklace's pendant, which reportedly resulted in high blood lead levels.

Description: The necklaces consist of a 10-inch black cord with a 7/8- inch-diameter gray metal pendant. The metal pendant has assorted symbols on one side.

Sold from: Vending machines in malls, discount department and grocery stores nationwide from March 2002 through April 2003 for about 50 cents.

Manufactured in: India

Remedy: The firm is no longer in business and a remedy is no longer available. Consumers should throw the jewelry away.
