Commissioner Lawrence M. Kushner has been elected Vice Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Commission Chairman Richard 0. Simpson said today.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has finalized rules governing the development of mandatory safety standards for consumer products under the Consumer Product Safety Act.

CPSC announces the appointment of Lacy B. Ward as Director of the Commission's Philadelphia Area Office. Ward has been serving as Acting Director for the Philadelphia district since the new independent Federal regulatory agency activated on May 14, 1973.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission today said it seized some $15,000 worth of illegal firecrackers from a Columbus, Mississippi, firm late Tuesday, July 3.
