WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Children's Snowsuits and Coats
Units: About 4,500
Manufacturer: Deux par Deux Minimome Inc. located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Hazard: The snowsuits and coats have drawstrings through the hood that can pose a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines (which were incorporated into an industry voluntary standard in 1997) to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.

Description: This recall involves children's snowsuits and coats sold in sizes 2 through 12. The snowsuits and coats were sold in various colors and prints. The brand name "Deux par Deux" and the style number is printed on the neck tag.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the jackets to eliminate the hazard or return the garment with drawstring to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Deaths, injuries, and property damage from consumer product-related incidents cost the nation more than $1 trillion annually. CPSC's work to ensure the safety of consumer products has contributed to a decline in the rate of injuries associated with consumer products over the past 50 years.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
