WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of product: AC Adaptor used with ThinkVision Soundbars
Units: About 230
AC Adaptor Distributer: Lenovo (United States) Inc., of Morrisville, N.C.
Hazard: The plastic shell of the AC Adaptor can crack, posing a risk of electric shock to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: Lenovo sold the AC Adaptors as part of the ThinkVision Soundbar option. The FRU part number 89P8571 with date code 200810 is located on the back of the adaptor.
Sold by: Lenovo's Web sites, telephone and direct sales, and Lenovo authorized distributors nationwide from October 2008 through January 2009, as an accessory for about $30.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled AC Adaptor and contact Lenovo to receive a free replacement part.

CPSC's work to ensure the safety of consumer products has contributed to a decline in the rate of injuries associated with consumer products over the past 50 years.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
