WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Coby Electronics Corp., of Maspeth, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 12,000 Portable DVD/CD/MP3 Players. The portable DVD/CD/MP3 players can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

Importer: Coby Electronics Corp., of Maspeth, N.Y.
Hazard: The portable DVD/CD/MP3 players can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
Incidents/Injuries: Coby Electronics Corp. has received three reports of the units overheating, one of which involved minor property damage from a fire. No injuries have been reported.
Description: This recall involves two different portable DVD/CD/MP3 players:

Deaths, injuries, and property damage from consumer product-related incidents cost the nation more than $1 trillion annually. CPSC's work to ensure the safety of consumer products has contributed to a decline in the rate of injuries associated with consumer products over the past 50 years.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
