Name of Product: Television Sets

Units: About 2,700

Importer/Distributor: PDi Communications Inc., of Springboro, Ohio

Hazard: A capacitor on the television's power supply board can fail, posing a fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: PDi Communications has received one report of an incident involving a flame in February 2010. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves 26-inch and 32-inch wall-mounted LCD television sets that were installed in healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, medical centers and nursing homes. Model and serial number ranges included in this recall are listed in the chart below. The model number is printed on a label on the back of the television sets. Other models of PDi television sets or units that are outside the serial number range are not included in this recall.

Remedy: Immediately stop using the recalled television sets, remove the power cord to prevent the TV from being powered on and contact PDi to receive a free repair. PDi began contacting healthcare facilities about this problem in March. Facilities that have not been contacted by PDi or its authorized agent should contact the firm for a free repair.

Name of Product: Dayton Electric Baseboard Heaters

Units: About 30

Manufacturer: Marley Engineered Products LLC, of Bennettsville, S.C.

Hazard: The baseboard heaters are labeled for 240 or 208 volt use. However, some of the heaters have an internal heater built for a maximum of 120 volts. If the heater is connected to a 240 or 208 volt electrical circuit as directed, the unit could catch fire.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves Dayton 240/208 volt model 3UG82D electric baseboard heaters. The white, rectangular heaters are 30 inches long by 6 3/4 inches high by 2 7/8 inches deep. A nameplate on the bottom right side of the base has "Dayton Electric Mfg. Co.," model 3UG82D and date code 1209. Only heaters purchased after December 21, 2009 with a date code of "1209" are included in this recall. The recalled heaters have yellow and white wires inside the panel where the heater connects to the power source. Heaters with red and black wire are not included in this recall.

Sold exclusively at: Grainger branch stores nationwide from December 2009 through March 2010 for about $50.

Manufactured in: United States

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the heaters and inspect the product's nameplate to determine whether it is involved in the recall. Consumers with affected heaters should disconnect the product at the circuit breaker or fuse. A qualified electrician should inspect the color of the wires inside the heater's electrical access panel to determine if the wires are yellow and white. Consumers should return the affected heaters to Marley for a free replacement. Marley will pay reasonable labor charges required to inspect and exchange units. Marley is directly notifying known consumers.

Name of Product: External laptop battery

Units: About 500

Manufacturer: Tekkeon Inc. of Tustin, Calif.

Hazard: The battery cell can short-circuit and overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Tekkeon has received one report of an overheating battery that resulted in minor damage to nearby furnishings. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The myPower ALL Plus External Laptop Battery is a universal rechargeable battery used to power laptop computers, MP3 players, mobile phones, DVD players and other portable devices. It is black with "Tekkeon" printed on the front. The model number, MP3750, is printed on a label on the back.

Sold at: Amazon.com and other online retailers from September 2009 through December 2009 for about $180.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled batteries and contact Tekkeon for a free replacement battery. The company is contacting all known purchasers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 25 reports of fuel leakage. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

Description: This recall involves Cummins Onan Portable Generators. "Cummins Onan" and the model number are printed on the front of the generator. The serial number is printed on the generator's name plate. Only generators manufactured on or after June 2009 and before December 2009 are included in this recall.

Name of Product: Niles ZR-6 MultiZone Receivers

Units: About 3,800

Distributor: Niles Audio Corp., of Miami, Fla.

Hazard: A failure in the receiver's internal components can cause connected loudspeakers to overheat and cause a fire, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received reports of three incidents of connected loudspeakers overheating. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves Niles® ZR-6 MultiZone Receivers. The receivers are black with a blue LCD display on the right side and the Niles logo in white on the front center. The receivers measure 17 inches wide x 3.5 inches high x 15 inches deep. The model number ZR-6 is located on the lower left side of the front panel of the receivers.

Sold at: Audio/video/home theater custom installation professionals nationwide from July 2008 through November 2009 for about $2,000.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled receivers and contact Niles for a free repair kit. The repair kit includes a software update for the receivers. Niles is directly contacting consumers who purchased the recalled receivers.

Name of Product: Fellowes Climate Control Footrests

Units: About 1,000

Importer: Fellowes, Inc., of Itasca, Ill.

Hazard: The footrest's fan can become blocked and overheat when used in the upright position, posing a fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: No injuries were reported.

Description: The recalled footrests are black and made of plastic. The Fellowes brand item #80309 can be found on the serial label at the bottom side of the footrest, which can be identified by Revision or letter "A" on the label, which appears after the date code.

Sold by: Business to Business resellers only, including Office Depot Business Services Division, SP Richards, Staples Advantage, United Stationers, Tri-Mega, and WW Grainger. These products were not sold in retail locations. The footrests sold from October 2009 through January 2010 for about $73.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled heated footrest and contact Fellowes to arrange for the return and replacement of the product or a full refund.

Name of Product: Arctic Cat Snowmobiles

Manufacturer: Arctic Cat Inc. of Thief River Falls, Minn.

Hazard: Fuel can leak from the fuel pump at the fuel tank mounting screws, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Arctic Cat has received two reports of fuel leakage at the fuel pump mounting screws. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recall involves all Model Year 2010 Arctic Cat 500 Sno Pro models. The model name and number are displayed on the side of the seat and on the engine cowling.

Sold at: Arctic Cat dealerships nationwide from October 2009 to February 2010 for between $7,800 and $8,200.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these snowmobiles immediately and contact their local Arctic Cat snowmobile dealer to schedule a free repair. Registered owners have been directly notified about this recall by mail.

Name of Product: Pelican Power Brick Battery Charger

Units: About 231,000

Distributor/Importer: Electro Source LLC, of Vernon, Calif.

Hazard: The battery charger's circuit board can overheat and cause its plastic cover to melt which poses a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Electro Source LLC has received 143 reports of the recalled battery charger overheating including one report of fire damage. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled Pelican Power Brick is an external recharging battery pack that sells as a separate accessory to be used with the Sony PSP™ (PlayStation Portable). The Pelican Power Brick consists of two lithium-ion battery cells connected via a circuit board and mounted in a small plastic housing. The battery cells are charged when plugged into an electrical outlet using the PSP™ AC adaptor. Once charged, it is used to recharge the PSP™. The model number for the battery charger, PL-6018, can be found on the back of the unit. The battery charger was sold alone and also as part of several kits containing other accessories by Electro Source LLC. Sony neither manufactured nor distributed the Pelican Power Brick. Only the Pelican Power Brick is included in this recall.

Sold at: Electronics and discount department stores nationwide, catalogs, and various Web sites from April 2005 through March 2006 for about $20 when sold alone, and for between $40 and $50 when sold as part of certain kits packaged by Electro Source LLC.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the battery charger immediately and contact Electro Source LLC to receive a choice of several replacement products.

Disney Store Recalls Children's Footed Pajamas Due to Burn Hazard

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Name of product: Baby Einstein Caterpillar Sleepwear and Baby Einstein Duck Sleepwear

Units: About 200

Retailer: Disney Stores North America, of Pasadena, Calif., which is owned, and under a licensing agreement operated, by a subsidiary of The Children's Place Retail Stores Inc. of Secaucus, N.J.

Hazard: This sleepwear fails to meet the children's flammability standard, posing a risk of burn injury to children.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recall involves footed pajamas made of 100 percent cotton. The sleepwear was sold in two styles including green with blue sleeves which has a caterpillar design on the front, and yellow with orange sleeves which has a duck design and "Quack! Quack!" printed on the front and duck beaks on the feet. "Baby Einstein" is printed on the back of the sleepwear. "Disney Store" is printed on a tag inside the pajamas. Only sleepwear in sizes 12 months and 18 months is included in this recall. Sleepwear sold in sizes 3, 6 and 9 months is not included in this recall.

Sold exclusively at: Disney Stores nationwide from April 2006 through May 2006 for about $20.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled sleepwear and return it to any Disney Store for a full refund.

Name of product: Marshall Gas Controls Model 451 and 452 LP-Gas regulators on Char-Broil®, Kenmore®, and Thermos® brand LP-Gas Grills shipped to retailers between April 15, 2003 and May 6, 2003.

Units: 35,000

Distributor: Marshall Gas Controls, a division of S.H. Leggitt Company of San Marcos, Texas

Hazard: Some of these regulators were assembled with an undersized seat disc that could become dislodged and leak propane gas. Propane gas is highly flammable and could ignite causing a fire or explosion. Consumers should immediately close the valve on the service cylinder if LP-Gas leakage is detected.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: These low-pressure regulators control petroleum gas pressure in gas grills. The regulators are used with Char-Broil®, Kenmore® and Thermos® brand gas grills. There are two model gas regulators involved in the recall. Model 451 is a single outlet regulator used on grills with traditional burners in the main box. Model 452 is a dual outlet regulator used on grills with a side burner adjacent to the main box. The regulators have date codes printed on the valve body. Date codes included in the recall are 13-03/03-13, 14-03/03-14, 15-03/03-15, 16-03/03-16, 17-03/03-17 and 18-03/03-18.
