WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product.

Name of Product: Maytag®, Magic Chef®, Performa by Maytag® and Crosley® brand refrigerators

Units: About 46,000 (This recall was first announced in March 2009)

Manufacturer: Maytag Corp., of Newton, Iowa

Hazard: An electrical failure in the relay, the component that turns on the refrigerator's compressor, can cause overheating and pose a serious fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: Maytag has received 23 additional reports of refrigerator relay ignition, including 4 reports of property damage ranging from smoke damage to extensive kitchen damage.

Description: The recall includes certain Maytag®, Magic Chef®, Performa by Maytag® and Crosley® brand side-by-side and top freezer refrigerators. The affected refrigerators were manufactured in black, bisque, white and stainless steel. They have model and serial numbers printed on a label located on the top middle or left upper side of the refrigerator liner and have the following model and serial number combinations:

Sold at: Department and appliance stores and by homebuilders nationwide from September 2000 through May 2004 for between about $350 and $1,600.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately contact Maytag to determine if their refrigerator is included in the recall and if so, to schedule a free in-home repair. Consumers should not return the refrigerator to the retailer where it was purchased.

Name of Product: Water Pump Motors

Units: About 6,750

Manufacturer: A.O. Smith Electrical Products Co., of Tipp City, Ohio

Hazard: The water pumps with the recalled motors are labeled as containing a one-horsepower motor, but actually contain a 3/4-horsepower motor. Under certain conditions, the smaller motor could overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recall involves motors included with lawn sprinkler pumps and jet pumps manufactured by F. E. Myers Co. The recall also includes replacement pump motors that were sold separately.

Only pumps manufactured between August 2007 and May 2008 are included in the recall. The pump's model number, manufacturing date code and the name "Myers" can be located on the pump's nameplate and packaging. The pump's motor has "A. O. Smith" and model number "C48D52B86" on the motor's nameplate. The replacement motor's packaging has "Myers" and model number "20935A000K" printed on it. Products with an "OK" sticker on the product or packaging are not included in the recall.

Sold at: Plumbing wholesalers and distributors nationwide to independent contractors and plumbers between August 2007 and May 2008. The water pumps sold for between $500 and $750 depending on the model, and the replacement motor sold for between $300 and $400.

Manufactured in: Mexico

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled units immediately and contact A. O. Smith to arrange for a free replacement of any pumps with affected motors or any affected replacement motors.

Name of Product: Durabrand DVD Players

Units: About 1.5 Million

Importer: Wal-Mart Stores Inc., of Bentonville, Ark.

Hazard: The DVD players can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Wal-Mart has received 12 reports of DVD players overheating, five of which have resulted in fires that caused property damage. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves a single DVD player with a remote control. The device is silver colored and has a U-shaped opening at the top to insert the DVD.

Sold exclusively at: Wal-Mart stores nationwide from January 2006 through July 2009 for about $29.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the product and return it to the nearest Wal-Mart for a full refund.

Name of Product: Amplifiers

Units: About 2,300

Distributor: Krell Industries LLC, of Orange, Conn.

Hazard: The amplifiers were designed to operate at a temperature warm to the touch. However, a component input device can fail and cause the amplifiers to overheat, posing burn and fire hazards to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Krell has received 50 reports of the amplifiers overheating including reports of smoke and electrical fire. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves Krell power amplifiers with model numbers KAV-250a, KAV-250a/3, KAV-500i and KAV-1500. The amplifiers are used to provide power to a loudspeaker in a home audio playback system. The Krell logo is printed on the front of the amplifier.

Sold by: Authorized dealers and distributors of audio equipment nationwide from January 1997 through February 2001 for between $3,000 and $8,000.

Manufactured in: USA

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the amplifiers, and contact Krell to schedule the free installation of replacement fuses.

Name of Product: Shop Fox Dust Collection Remote Switches

Units: About 450

Manufacturer: Woodstock International, of Bellingham, Wash.

Hazard: An incorrectly sized wire inside the remote switch can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Woodstock International has received 10 reports of the remote switch overheating. No injuries were reported.

Description: The recalled product is a remote dust collector switch, which remotely turns on and off a woodworking dust collector. The product is a black electrical outlet box that comes with two hand-held remote controls. The electrical outlet box has a label that reads "Remote Dust Collector Switch". Both the electrical box and remote controls have "Shop Fox" molded into the plastic on the top side of the product. Model numbers D3038 & D3346 were printed on the carton but not on the remote control unit. The recalled switches measure 4 and 13/16" long by 3 and 7/16" wide.

Sold by: Woodworking stores nationwide from July 2008 through June 2009 for about $50.

Name of Product: Homelite, Husky and Black Max Brand Generators

Units: About 51,750

Distributor: Homelite Consumer Products Inc., of Anderson, S.C.

Hazard: The fuel gauge can leak excessive amounts of gasoline, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves Homelite and Husky brand generators sold exclusively at Home Depot stores and Black Max brand generators sold exclusively at Sam's Club stores. Affected generators include Homelite models HG3500, HG3510, HG5700 and HG5700R, Husky models HU3650, HUCA5700 and HUCA7000 and Black Max models BM10700, BM10700A, BM10700B, BM10711A, BM10700DG, BM10700R, BM10700BR & BM10722G. Generators included in this recall have manufacturing date codes between BML306-BMM151, CHL122-CHM151 and CRL153-CRM059. The model number and manufacturing date code are included on the data label located on the top or side of the generator engine. Products with a green "dot" on the outside of the package or a "silver dot" on the fuel gauge face are not included in the recall.

Sold exclusively at: Home Depot and Sam's Club stores nationwide from July 2008 through May 2009 for between $480 and $1,600.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using their generator and contact Homelite Consumer Products Inc. (Homelite and Husky brands only) or Black Max (Black Max brands only) for a free repair kit.

Name of Product: Sean Conway Fire Pit Spark Screen

Units: About 430

Importer/Distributors: Target Corporation, of Minneapolis, Minn. (Marshall Field's is a division of Target Corporation)

Hazard: The fire pit spark screen can catch fire when it comes into direct contact with a flame, posing a burn and fire hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Marshall Field's has received three reports of the spark screen catching fire. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

Description: The recalled Sean Conway spark screens act as a cover over the top of a copper fire pit that sits in a black, three-legged stand. The spark screens have an item number of 525-90-0800 and a UPC number of 97169934567. The Sean Conway Fire Pit is not included in this recall.

Sold at: Marshall Field's stores in Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan and one store in Wisconsin, and on the company's Web site from January 2004 through May 2004 for about $50.

Manufactured In: Turkey.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the spark screens immediately and return them to any Marshall Field's store for a full refund.

Name of Product: Bamboo Torch

Units: About 36,000

Manufacturer: Jo-Ann Stores Inc., of Hudson, Ohio.

Hazard: The plastic oil canister can melt when the torch is in use posing a fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: Jo-Ann Stores Inc. has received seven reports of problems with the Bamboo Torches involving the canister melting while the torch was lit and in use. One minor burn injury was reported that did not require medical treatment.

Description: The bamboo torch is made of bamboo and stands about five feet tall. The oil canister is housed at the top and the bottom has a spiked tip to stick into the ground. The oil canister is removable and has a black metal top with a hole for the wick to stick out. Instructions and warnings for the use of the product are written on the outside of the oil canister.

Sold at: Jo-Ann Stores nationwide from February 2004 through April 2004 for about $10.

Manufactured In: Hong Kong

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled torch immediately and return it to a Jo-Ann Store location to receive a refund.

Name of Product: Zen Large and Small Room Rugs

Units: About 1,000

Manufacturer: Brumlow Mills, of Calhoun, Ga.

Hazard: The large rugs fail to meet federal flammability standards and could ignite, posing the risk of fire and burn hazards to consumers. The small rugs fail to meet federal labeling requirements. Small rugs are not required to meet the federal flammability standard; however, they are required to be permanently labeled with the following statement: "FLAMMABLE (FAILS U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE STANDARD FF 2-70): SHOULD NOT BE USED NEAR SOURCES OF IGNITION."

Incidents/Injuries: No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves "Zen design" polypropylene rugs in rust and sage colors. Zen rugs in other colors are not involved in this recall. Only rugs purchased from January 2010 through March 2010 are involved in this recall.

Name of Product: Counterfeit BlackBerry®-branded cell phone batteries in refurbished devices

Units: About 470,000

Distributor: Asurion, of Smyrna, Tenn.

Hazard: The counterfeit batteries can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards.

Incidents/Injuries: Asurion has received two reports of counterfeit BlackBerry®-branded batteries overheating, causing minor burns to a consumer's finger and minor property damage to a sofa and car seat.

Description: This recall involves only BlackBerry®-branded batteries provided with refurbished Blackberry®-branded devices. The refurbished devices were sent to consumers by Asurion through a handset protection program. The batteries were used across virtually all models of refurbished BlackBerry devices distributed by Asurion prior to November 1, 2009. Genuine Blackberry-branded batteries are not included in this recall. No other Asurion or BlackBerry products are involved in this recall.

Distributed through: Asurion as part of their handset protection claim program nationwide from March 2004 through October 2009.

Manufactured in: Unknown

Remedy: Consumers who received refurbished BlackBerry devices through Asurion prior to November 1, 2009 should immediately stop using the product and contact Asurion for a replacement product. Asurion is directly contacting known consumers with the affected batteries to notify them of this recall.
