WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Spalding In-Ground Basketball Hoops
Units: About 1,700
Importer/Distributor: Russell Brands LLC, of Alexander City, Ala.
Hazard: The bolts at the base can fail, causing the unit to fall. This poses a risk of serious injury to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: This recall involves Spalding in-ground basketball hoops with a supporting pole and a clear backboard. The following models are included in the recall:

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled basketball hoops immediately and contact Russell Brands for instructions on receiving free replacement bolts. If the product is installed in concrete, the firm will arrange for free deinstallation, repair and reinstallation of the product at the consumer's home.
