Ronald A. Jordan, Directorate for Engineering Sciences, will be participating in a meeting of the ANSI/CSA Cross-Functional Working Group on Carbon Monoxide Sensors in Gas Appliances. The purpose of the working group is to evaluate the potential of incorporating sensing devices into the combustion chambers, heat exchangers or flue passageways of vented gas appliances and (directly or indirectly) measuring carbon monoxide (CO) and initiating an appropriate automatic response to CO levels that exceed a specified threshold. This working group was established in response to CPSC staff’s 2015 CO shutoff/response proposal for gas furnaces, boilers, and floor and wall furnaces covered by ANSI Z21.47, ANSI Z21.13, and ANSI Z21.86; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., CSA Group, 8501 E.
