Announcement of Consumer Product Safety Apps Challenge Under the America COMPETES Reauthorization Act of 2011

Decision
The Commission voted unanimously (3-0) to approve publication in the Federal Register, with changes, a notice announcing a prize contest under section 105 of the America COMPETES Reauthorization Act of 2011, 15 U.S.C. 3719. Through the Consumer Product Safety Apps Challenge, the Commission seeks applications and tools that combine recalls and safety reports with online auction sites, online product reviews, search engines and other innovative places where consumers get product information.

To include language, up front, that makes it very clear that once the user accesses theapp, the relationship is now between the creator of the app and the user. CPSC is merely thevenue that provides access to the app.
