WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using FunFitX toddler bike helmets. The helmets violate the impact attenuation, positional stability, certification, and labeling requirements of the mandatory safety standard for bicycle helmets. The helmets can fail to protect riders in the event of a crash, posing a deadly risk of head injury.
CPSC issued a Notice of Violation to the importer Hongkong Aak Trading Ltd., of China, and the ultimate consignee, Rugut Trading, Inc. of Fontana, California. Neither entity has agreed to recall these helmets or offer a remedy to consumers.
About 85 helmets were sold online on Amazon from April 2025 through June 2025. The helmets were sold in extra-small (XS), fitting a head circumference of about 19 inches to 21 inches. The helmets are in the color baby blue and contain a sea life theme with red padding, black straps, and a black buckle with a red chin pad. The helmets have a black plastic knob at the back of the helmet for adjusting the fitting. The model number “SL712” is printed on a label located inside of the helmets.
These products were manufactured in China.
CPSC urges consumers to stop using the FunFitX helmets immediately, cut the straps, and dispose of them. Do not sell or give away these hazardous helmets.
Report any incidents involving injury or product defect to CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risk of injury associated with the use of thousands of types of consumer products. Deaths, injuries, and property damage from consumer product-related incidents cost the nation more than $1 trillion annually. Since the CPSC was established more than 50 years ago, it has worked to ensure the safety of consumer products, which has contributed to a decline in injuries associated with these products.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
