Infant Swings

Final Rule: November 7, 2012

Section 104, Standards and Consumer Registration of Durable Nursery Products, of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008, requires the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC, or Commission) to study and develop safety standards for certain infant and toddler products. Infant swings are one of the products specifically identified in section 104(f)(2) of the CPSIA as a durable infant or toddler product. The Commission is charged with promulgating consumer product safety standards that are substantially the same as the voluntary standard for infant swings or more stringent than the voluntary standard if the Commission determines that more stringent standards would further reduce the risk of injury associated with infant swings.
