Top Recall Hazards - 5 Years

Hazard definitions:
  1. Fire - Use of the product may lead to a fire or the product violates federal fabric flammability regulations.
  2. Burn - Use of the product may lead to experiencing burns.
  3. Heat-Related Explosion - The product may explode unintentionally.
  4. Falling - Use of the product may cause an unintentional fall.
  5. Poisoning - Use of the product may lead to poisoning.
  6. Crash - Use of the product may lead to an unintentional crash.
  7. Choking - Use of the product may lead to choking, or the product violates federal toy safety standards, or the product violates federal children clothing standards (drawstrings).
  8. Impact - Use of the product may lead to an unintentional impact that may cause injury or death.
  9. Cuts - Use of the product may lead to unintentional cuts and/or lacerations.
  10. Safety Equipment Malfunction - The safety product does not operate as intended and use of the product may lead to injury or death.

Recall Remedies - 5 Years

  1. Refund - A customer may receive a full or partial refund, or gift card for the recalled product.
  2. Repair - The company is offering a repair to the recalled product.
  3. Replace - The company is offering a replacement for the recalled product in the form of a new product or other products of similar value.
  4. Dispose - The product should be thrown out or recycled.
  5. New Instructions - The company will issue new instructions on how the customer can make the recalled product safe.
  6. Remedy No Longer Available - The recalled product should be thrown out or recycled.

Hazard:

The recalled bassinets violate federal safety regulations for Infant Sleep Products because they do not have a stand, posing a fall hazard if used on elevated surfaces.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bassinets and contact Beberoadlove for instructions on how to receive a full refund, and how to properly dispose of the product. Beberoadlove and Amazon are contacting all known purchasers directly.

Hazard:

The recalled bassinets violate the Safe Sleep for Babies Act because they were marketed for infant sleep and have an incline angle greater than 10 degrees. Infant fatalities have occurred in inclined sleeper products after the infants rolled from their back to their stomach or side while unrestrained, or under other circumstances. The bassinets also violate the Infant Sleep Products regulation because they do not have a stand.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bassinets and contact Peg Perego for instructions on how to receive a full refund or repair instructions for the recalled bassinets. Consumers who purchased their bassinet for a stroller system or with a stand will be given instructions on how to disable the backrest recline adjustment feature. Peg Perego will offer a $50 cash incentive for consumers who provide proof of backrest disengagement for bassinets part of this recall. Consumers who solely purchased the bassinet should return the product for a full refund. Peg Perego and Amazon are contacting all known purchasers directly.

Hazard:

Infant fatalities have occurred in the Rock ‘n Play Sleepers, after the infants rolled from their back to their stomach or side while unrestrained, or under other circumstances.

Remedy:

Consumers should stop using the Rock ‘n Play immediately and contact Fisher-Price for a refund or voucher.  It is illegal to sell or distribute the recalled sleepers.

Hazard:

The bassinet’s support legs can break, posing a fall hazard to babies.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bassinets and contact DaVinci for a free repair kit that includes new support legs. In the meantime, parents are urged to remove the support legs and use the bassinet on a safe space on the floor or to find an alternate, safe sleeping environment for the child, such as a crib that meets current safety standards. DaVinci is contacting all known purchasers directly.

Hazard:

The bassinets fail to meet the mandatory federal safety standard for bassinets and cradles, posing fall and entrapment hazards to babies.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the Multipro Baby Cradle N Swing, disassemble it and throw it away.  Consumers who purchased the product on Amazon.com have been contacted directly and automatically issued a gift card refund for the full purchase price of the product.

Hazard:

The Moses basket fails to meet the federal hand held infant carrier standard and the stand fails to meet the bassinet/cradle standard. The basket can slide off an inclined surface and the stand can tip, posing a fall hazard for infants.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the Moses baskets as a hand held infant carrier.  Consumers who purchased both items should immediately stop using the recalled stand and contact the firm for instructions on returning the basket and stand to receive a store credit.

Hazard:

The wire supports on the sides of the bassinet can disconnect causing the fabric sides to lower; posing a risk that infants can fall out or become entrapped and suffocate..

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Dream On Me to obtain a free repair. In the meantime, parents are urged to find an alternate, safe sleeping environment for the child, such as a crib that meets current safety standards or play yard depending on the child's age.

Hazard:

The mattress support board can fall out or slide out of the bottom of the cradle glider posing a risk that babies can fall out and suffer injuries.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cradles and contact Dream On Me to obtain a free repair kit. Instructions for assembly will be included in the repair kit.

Hazard:

Mold can develop between the removable seat cushion and the hard plastic frame of the sleeper when it remains wet/moist or is infrequently cleaned, posing a risk of exposure to mold to infants sleeping in the product. The CPSC advises that mold has been associated with respiratory illnesses and other infections. Although mold is not present at the time of purchase, mold growth can occur after use of the product.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately check for mold under the removable seat cushion. Dark brown, gray or black spots can indicate the presence of mold. If mold is found, consumers should immediately stop using the product. Consumers can contact Fisher-Price for cleaning instructions or further assistance. Cleaning and care instructions can also be found at www.service.mattel.com or by contacting the firm.

Hazard:

The bottom locking mechanism can fail to lock properly if a spring is not installed, allowing the bassinet to tip to one side and cause infants to roll to the side of the bassinet. This poses a suffocation hazard to infants.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bassinets and contact Dorel to obtain a free repair kit, which includes a spring and new instructions for assembly.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using 5in1 Rocker Bassinets because they pose suffocation, strangulation, and fall hazards to infants.

Consumer Action:

CPSC urges consumers to immediately stop using the bassinets, disassemble them and dispose of them.

Hazard:

The Simplicity 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 convertible bassinets contain metal bars spaced farther apart than 2 3/8 inches, which is the maximum distance allowed under the federal crib safety standard. The metal bars are covered by an adjustable fabric flap which is attached by velcro. The fabric is folded down when the bassinet is converted into a bed-side co-sleeping position. If the velcro is not properly re-secured when the flap is adjusted, an infant can slip through the opening and become entrapped in the metal bars and suffocate. 

Consumer Action:

CPSC is urging parents and caregivers to stop using convertible “close-sleeper/bedside sleeper” bassinets manufactured by Simplicity Inc., of Reading, Pa.
