PT Domusindo Perdana Recalls Drop-Side Cribs Due to Entrapment and Suffocation Hazards; Sold Exclusively at JC Penney

The cribs' drop sides can malfunction and detach. Infants can roll and become wedged or trapped. Children can also fall out of the crib.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact customer service at Modus Furniture International to get a free immobilizer kit that will immobilize the drop side. The immobilizer kits will be available in May 2013. In the meantime, parents are encouraged to find an alternate, safe sleep environment for the child, such as a bassinet, play yard or toddler bed depending on your child's age.

Victory Land Group Recalls to Repair Drop-Side Cribs Sold Exclusively at Kmart Due to Entrapment, Suffocation and Fall Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Victory Land Group Inc., of Bartlett, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 34,000 Drop-Side Cribs. The crib's drop-side rail can malfunction, detach or otherwise fail, causing part of the drop-side to detach from the crib. When the drop-side rail partially detaches, it creates a space between the drop side and the crib mattress. An infant or toddler's body can become entrapped in the space, which can lead to strangulation and/or suffocation. A child can also fall out of the crib. Drop-side incidents can also occur due to age-related wear and tear.
Remedy: "

The firm is no longer in business. Consumers should immediately stop using the cribs, disable or destroy and discard them. Repair kits are no longer available.

Albee Baby Recalls C & T International/Sorelle Brand "Prescott" Cribs Due to Entrapment, Suffocation and Fall Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Albee Baby, of East Rutherford, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 130 Sorelle brand "Prescott" fixed-sided cribs. These cribs are re-labeled fixed-sided Simplicity cribs that contain tubular metal mattress-support frames recalled in April 2010. The mattress support frames can bend or detach, causing part of the mattress to drop, creating a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged, entrapped or fall out of the crib.
Remedy: "

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact Albee Baby for a replacement crib, store credit or refund. C&T International/Albee Baby is attempting to directly contact known consumers who purchased the recalled crib online from July 2009 through October 2009. In the meantime, find an alternate, age appropriate, safe sleeping environment for the child, such as a bassinet, play yard or toddler bed.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Nan Far Woodworking Co. Ltd., of Taiwan, is voluntarily recalling about 16,700 Rockland Furniture drop-side cribs. The cribs' drop sides can malfunction, detach or otherwise fail, causing part of the drop side to fall out of position, creating a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged or entrapped, which can lead to strangulation or suffocation. A child can also fall out of the crib. Drop-side incidents can also occur due to incorrect assembly and with age-related wear and tear.
Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact Nan Far Woodworking for a free repair kit that will immobilize the drop side. In the meantime, find an alternate, safe sleep environment for the child such as a bassinet, play yard or toddler bed depending on the child's age.

"Alexander Designs" Brand Drop-Side Cribs Sold Exclusively at JCPenney Recalled for Repair Due to Entrapment, Suffocation and Fall Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Jardine Enterprises Ltd., of Taipei, Taiwan, is voluntarily recalling about 11,400 Alexander Designs Ltd. brand drop-side cribs. The drop-side rail hardware on the cribs can break or fail, allowing the drop side to detach from the crib. When the drop side detaches, a hazardous gap is created between the drop-side rail and the crib mattress in which infants and toddlers can become wedged or entrapped, posing risks of suffocation and strangulation. In addition, children can fall out of the crib when the drop-side rail falls unexpectedly or detaches from the crib. Drop-side rail failures also can occur due to incorrect assembly or with age-related wear and tear.
Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the cribs and obtain a free repair kit that will immobilize the drop-side rail. In the meantime, parents are urged to find an alternate, safe sleeping environment for the child, such as a bassinet, play yard or toddler bed depending on the child's age.

Dream on Me Recalls Drop-Side Cribs Due to Entrapment, Suffocation, Laceration, and Fall Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Dream on Me, Inc. of Piscataway, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 22,000 full-size and portable drop-side cribs. The drop-side rail hardware can break or fail, allowing the drop side to detach from the crib. When the drop-side rail partially detaches, it creates a space between the drop side and the crib mattress. An infant or toddler's body can become entrapped in the space, which can lead to strangulation and/or suffocation. A child can also fall out of the crib. In addition, the portable crib mattress support hardware and the drop-side release latch can break easily, and the slats can loosen or break and detach from the crib. Children can also cut themselves on exposed hardware inside the cribs.
Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using these cribs and contact the company.

  Full-Size Cribs: Consumers will be given a free kit that will immobilize the drop side. Kits will be available beginning June 30, 2011.   Portable Cribs: Consumers can receive a free replacement portable crib with fixed sides. Replacement cribs will be available in mid-July 2011.
