Recall Details
This recall involves two Scag Liberty-Z zero-turn lawn mowers; model SZL48-22KT with serial numbers K7100001 through K7102353 and model SZL52-24KT with serial numbers K7200001 through K7202020. The model and serial numbers are printed on a vertical plate under the mower's seat. "Scag" in red letters, "Liberty Z" in white letters and a blue "Z" is printed on a plate below the front of the seat. The mowers have an orange base with two orange and black steering handles. The mowers also have two large black with orange rim wheels in the back of the mower and two smaller black with orange rim wheels in the front of the mower.
Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled lawn mowers and contact Scag Power Equipment or an authorized dealer for a free repair. Scag Power Equipment authorized dealers have contacted all known owners.
Scag Power Equipment has received five reports of gas tank leaks on the mowers. No injuries have been reported.

The dampers installed on the steering system of the mower can prevent the control levers from returning to the neutral position and the Operator Presence switch will not activate and stop the engine and blades, posing crash and laceration hazards to the operator or bystanders.
The high-pressure fuel line can get damaged by contact with the fuel pump cover, causing a fuel leak that poses burn and fire hazards.
The riding mowers can fail to come to a complete stop and continue to move at a speed of about one mile per hour when the clutch/brake pedal is fully depressed, posing a low speed crash hazard.
The reverse-mow option switch can malfunction and allow the riding lawn mowers to unintentionally mow when being driven in a reverse direction, posing a risk of injury to bystanders.
An incorrect routing of the fuel line can cause it to wear and leak, posing a fire hazard.
The mower’s blades can continue to rotate under power when the operator leaves the seat, posing a laceration risk to the user or bystander.
