BRP U.S. Inc. Recalls Snowmobiles Due to Fire Hazard

The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Ski-Doo® Snowmobiles

Units: About 430 (This recall was first announced in May 2008)

Importer: BRP U.S. Inc., of Sturtevant, Wis.

Hazard: Friction between the fuel hose and the cylinder head cover can cause the hose to pierce. This can cause fuel to leak out, posing a fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received two reports of fuel leakage and five additional reports of hose wear. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

Description: The recall involves the following Ski-Doo® Models:

ModelColor
2007 and 2008 Expedition TUV V800 Deep Red/Black
2007 and 2008 Skandic SWT V-800 Yellow/Black

The model names are located on the side panel.

Sold at: Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from March 2006 through May 2008 for about $10,000.

Manufactured in: Finland

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact any Ski-Doo dealer to schedule a free repair. Consumers with recalled snowmobiles are being sent a direct notice from BRP.
